PowerShield Poultice
PowerShield Poultice
Botanical defense for fly season
Fly season is its own kind of misery. The stomping, the tail swishing, the insect bites making your horse insanely itchy. PowerShield is our answer to it: a thick botanical clay poultice you can smooth on before turnout and know they have a barrier between them and the worst of the day. In our testing, it's the only thing we've found effective against the meanest and nastiest: horseflies!
Handmade in small batches on our Indiana ranch, PowerShield is built on bentonite and kaolin clays with witch hazel, aloe, and glycerin, then finished with a botanical blend of citronella, lemongrass, cedarwood, peppermint, and clove. It goes on thick, stays put, and washes off clean.
Here's what's not in it: sodium lauryl sulfate. A lot of the fly muds on the shelf use synthetic sulfates to help them spread. We don't. Ours holds together on aloe and glycerin instead, which is a little harder to make and a lot better to put on a horse you care about.
